Tzedakah

Giving to others is simply an act of
righteousness; the performance of
a duty; giving the poor their due.

    Shomrei Tikvah

Shomrei Tikvah (The Guardians of Hope) is a capital fund used to preserve and embellish the operation of our buildings and grounds. Funds raised through Shomrei Tikvah provide a financial cushion to repair and maintain our building, especially important as the building ages.

Past fundraising activities sponsored by Shomrei Tikvah include the Torah Restoration; a reception and studio tour hosted by sculptor George Segal and his wife Helen; an exhibit of sculptor Leon Bibel's oversized Spice Boxes; artist-in-residence Beth Heit; guest speakers U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg and Dith Pran; and an auction of a Leon Bibel dreidel.

Membership in Shomrei Tikvah requires a minimum $1,000 contribution beyond current Synagogue obligations. Activities of Shomrei Tikvah are open to nonmembers for a nominal fee.

    Torah Readers Connection

Well, not having motivation is no longer a valid excuse because of "The Torah Readers Tzedakah Connection Project". This project involves sponsors promising to donate a fixed amount to one of the synagogue funds for each time the reader they sponsored chants from the Torah (up to 12 times per year).
