The Sons of Tikvah Band is the backbone of our performing arts program. Our "house band" led by Cantor Bruce Rockman, incorporates singers and instrumentalists such as piano, drums, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, and banjo. |

The band helps integrate Jewish music into the congregation's consciousness. Performances throughout the year offer the opportunity for the community to experience the variety of music encompassing the Jewish American experience.

| Rabbi Wolkoff, Cantor Rockman, and our Sons of Tikvah Band bring to life the Friday night prayers with an "electrifying" musical Kabbalat Shabbat service. The service typically starts earlier than usual at around 6:30 or 7:00 pm. To set the mood, we usher in Shabbat with instruments and the spirited signing of traditional and unique melodies. Young and old enjoy the music, join the singing, and sometimes even dance in the aisles (well, the young and young at heart ones do). Then, just before Shabbat arrives we put our instruments away and the congregation continues our service with more joyful singing, enjoying our Shabbat experience with renewed enthusiasm. |
Rehearsals are almost every Tuesday night. Come on by and check us out! Right now the group is working on Fiddler on the Roof melodies because, that's what the members feel like learning! As one member said, "It's about ruach, to connect with the community and my Jewish roots. It's like davening with instruments."
