When the building was first constructed in 1983, the wiring for the microphones had to be in place before the concrete was poured for the bima. At that time, Rabbi Warmflash gave his best estimate as to where the podiums were to be placed. It was intended that the junction boxes for the microphones would be placed under the podiums.
